Code of Conduct

Welcome to Space Barn! This is literally my favorite thing I do and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share it with you. The partying and celebrating that we are all looking forward to is only possible if we lay down some ground rules around expected behavior to create a safe and welcoming environment for all members of our community. Space Barn attendance is conditional upon agreeing to our ground rules:

  1. You will treat everyone else at Space Barn with respect. Any behavior that is homophobic, misogynistic, racist, transphobic, or otherwise discriminatory will not be tolerated and will be addressed appropriately, including being asked to leave the property or other escalating consequences as appropriate.
  2. You will keep clear, freely communicated, and enthusiastic consent as the fundamentals of how you interact with other people. Not only does “no” mean “no”, “maybe” and an unenthusiastic “yes” are also probably a no. When in doubt, please take the course of action that respects the other person’s autonomy the most.
  3. As an addendum to the no illicit substances policy contained in our waiver, and in respect of the ongoing fentanyl epidemic that has claimed so many of the lives of our peers, we ask that you be aware of how to administer Narcan. A training video will be shown at 7:45pm on Friday and Saturday, and can also be viewed at www.tinyurl.com/use-narcan. Fentanyl test strips will also be available.
  4. You won’t touch or bring drinks near the DJ equipment, or go behind the booth without explicit permission by the currently playing DJ. The equipment to make Space Barn happen is very expensive and can be easily damaged. Please also keep this in mind for other equipment that requires training, such as the espresso machines.
  5. You will be mindful of the waste you produce. Space Barn is a family event, not a music festival, so no one is getting paid to clean up after you and we also don’t have the facilities to handle tons and tons of throwaway garbage. Please bring your own reusable cups and avoid single use plastic items, such as glowsticks. Absolutely no non-biodegradable glitter please!

Thank you for reading this and feel free to ask either the person at registration or me directly any questions or concerns regarding this policy before agreeing to it.
